Trying to do the food shop as infrequently as possible means it can feel a little more difficult to eat healthily. We’ve compiled a few little tips that our angels are following to keep their diets as healthy as possible and minimise the amount of trips we take to the food shops!
Drink enough water – an easy, free way of staying healthy. Sometimes it’s the simple things that are the most important and staying hydrated is definitely that- important! Your body can’t function properly unless you’re having minimum 2 litres of water a day, so make sure you’re fitting this into your daily routine. Filling up a 2 litre glass bottle can help you to make sure you’ve consumed the right amount throughout the day and keeping hydrated can stop us craving unhealthy snacks.
Make your plate colourful – a good way to make sure you’re eating a good balance of vitamins is making sure that your plate is packed full with veg/fruit of varying colours! If you’re running low on fresh veg and fruit, frozen (which can hold even more vitamins) or tinned counts too, as long as it’s stored in natural juice or water as opposed to syrup.
Mix it up! Try not to eat the same meal every day! Focus on food that boost your immune system and work your meals around those (spinach, peppers, tomatoes) and make a meal plan. This can help your food last longer and ensure you’re going out as little as possible.
Snacking – Anyone else just staring at the fridge most of the day? Grab delicious healthy fruit, veg, proteins and pulses to keep you going.
Use the freezer! If you’re lucky enough to have a freezer make the most of it! Freeze any leftovers for future lunches. You can also chop and freeze veg so you have easy access to it and so that you don’t have to visit the shop often!
Treat yourself! Remember- you know whats good for you! Indulgence during a hard time can give us a total pick me up and keep us smiling. It’s not about not letting ourselves have what we want, it’s about filling our diet with nutrients to help our beautiful bodies work as well as they can do to keep us fit and healthy at this strange time.
We’d love to hear your health eating tips!
Sending you all the love in the world, beautiful beings. Stay safe x
