5 Tips to Help You Start Journalling

April 6, 2020Emma RobsonHappiness, Monday Motivation, Positivity, RitualsNo comments

Journalling can boost your mood, increase gratitude, make you feel mega productive and help you on your way to achieving those dreams! We’ve compiled five quick and easy tips to help you start journalling:

1. Always keep your journal close by

Keep your journal to hand so that you can jot down any ideas that may come into your head. Heard a quote you love? Jot it in there. Remembered a dream you had? Write it down. Had an epiphany? Get that pen out, lovely one!!!

2. Don’t write on the first page

We put so much pressure on getting the first page perfect, that it can be easier just to leave it blank. There’s a lot less pressure about what you write on page number 2 and it can make your journalling more authentic!

3. Lay out your pages your own way

Love bullet points? Hate writing in the lines? Feel creative adding a doodle? Enjoy looking at lists? There’s no right or wrong way to lay out your journal, so find your flow and set your pages out in whatever way works for you.

4. Keep your entries short

You don’t need to write an essay in each page and you don’t need to write every day. A lot of people stop journalling because they put too much pressure on writing a huge detailled account of their thoughts each day. Little and often is the key to effective journalling!

5. Incorporate journalling into your daily routine

If you have a daily routine, try to add five minutes of time in for jotting in your journal. A lot of people enjoy doing this first thing in the morning or last thing at night. Another option could be with your mid morning cuppa, or when you’d usually be looking at your phone.

The most important part of journalling is to enjoy it. If it feels like a chore, you’re not getting the benefits so it’s always good to assess your practice and make any changes to make journalling fun and beneficial!

Enjoy lovely ones and let us know your own journalling tips!
